Swathy Pisharody

Swathy Pisharody is a Partner – Energy, Infrastructure & Projects at Trilegal and a Partner in the Energy, Infrastructure and Natural Resources practice, focusing on Infrastructure Law. Her practice spans energy, infrastructure, acquisition transactions, risk analysis and regulatory advisory.

She has significant experience in sector-specific M&A and has assisted domestic and multinational corporations on acquisition transactions, predominantly in the highways and renewable sectors, including portfolio acquisitions of large groups with multiple subsidiaries. She is familiar with sector-specific issues requiring resolution and has conducted review and risk analysis of material contracts, corporate issues, permits, and EPC issues.

Swathy has also advised on bid processes for green field projects across sectors such as solar, wind, offshore wind, aviation, shipping, roadways, e-mobility, metro railways and oil and gas. She undertakes policy and regulatory advisory work in these sectors and assists clients in drafting and finalising documents — including concession agreements, power purchase agreements, and construction, supply and operation maintenance contracts — for project development on a turnkey basis.

Her representative matters include advising the Edelweiss Group on its acquisition of the L&T IDPL portfolio, CDC and IFC on investments in renewable energy platforms, Torrent Power and Sembcorp on acquisitions of solar and wind assets, and RWE on its partnership with Tata for offshore wind energy projects in India. She is recognised as a “Rising Star” for Project Development by IFLR1000 (2019–2022) and as a “Recommended Lawyer” and “Rising Star” for Projects & Energy by Legal 500 Asia-Pacific (2020, 2021). Swathy holds a B.A. LLB from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies and is admitted to the Bar Council of Kerala.
