Nikhil Narendran

Nikhil Narendran is a Partner – Artificial Intelligence, Corporate, Technology, Media and Telecom, Policy Advisory, Intellectual Property at Trilegal and part of the firm’s TMT practice, focusing on Telecommunications Law. He is a subject matter expert in the technology, media, and telecom communication space.

Nikhil focuses on the interplay of technology, human lives, and commerce. He has substantial experience advising companies on telecom, media and technology laws in relation to their entry into India, operations, strategy, policy, regulatory issues, disputes, and business models. His advice in the telecom regulatory sector ranges from mobile telephony, enterprise, Satcom, cloud and call centre related work.

He advises new-age e-commerce, Fintech and technology companies in India on their business models and regulatory issues, including data protection. In the media sector, he has advised traditional and new media content delivery services, including triple play, dual play and OTT.

Nikhil has worked extensively with clients on technology policy across the private and public sectors, and is called upon to advise on best practices during the consultation process for technology legislation in other Asian countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. He has also negotiated ICT agreements in South-East Asia, Europe and America, and was the winner of the ITechLaw Travelling Fellowship Award 2011, as part of which he worked at six European firms specialising in technology laws.

He is a Board member of ITechLaw. His recognitions include ‘Litigation Star’ – Technology, Data & Privacy by Benchmark Litigation (2026), ‘Leading Individual’ for TMT & Data Protection by Legal 500 (2024–2026), Band 1 by Chambers & Partners Asia-Pacific for TMT (2025–2026), and ‘Leading Lawyers Champions Star Practitioners’ in Fintech by Legal Era (2025–26). He holds a BA LLB Hons from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, and is admitted to the Kerala Bar Council.
