Amrita Tonk

Amrita Tonk is a Partner in the Employment and Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) practice group in the Delhi & NCR office. Her primary practice area is Employment Law.

She has a legal career spanning litigation, white-collar investigations and employment law, enriched by her prior tenure in the judiciary. Her deep expertise in employment advisory equips her to navigate the complex legal and operational challenges faced by organisations managing dynamic and diverse workforces.

She regularly counsels clients across industries on sensitive and high-stakes employment matters, including workforce structuring, senior-level separations, internal investigations, employee misconduct, regulatory compliance and workplace policy enforcement. Her experience includes advising Indian and multinational corporations on whistleblower investigations, termination of senior management, and strategic issues around culture, governance and compliance.

She previously served as a Metropolitan Magistrate in Delhi from 2013 to 2018, presiding over Trial Courts at Patiala House and Tis Hazari.

She has been ranked by Benchmark Litigation as a "Litigation Star" (Labour & Employment) in 2025. She was featured in the special edition of the Insights Success Magazine on "Outstanding Women Lawyers 2022". She was invited as a panelist and spoke on "Representation of Women in Law and ADR", organised by WICCI, and was invited as an Expert Guest for the discussion on "Multi-Tier Arbitration Clauses" organised by Jindal Global Law School.

Prior to joining CMS INDUSLAW, she was Head of Legal (North) at Godrej Properties Limited and a Partner at Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India. She is an Advocate in India and has been recognised by Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific.

She holds an LL.M. from Kurukshetra University (2017) and a B.A. LL.B. from the Army Institute of Law, Mohali (2010). She speaks English.
