Shankh Sengupta

Shankh Sengupta is a Partner – Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Practice, Restructuring, Special Situations and Insolvency, White-Collar Crime at Trilegal and the Head of the Dispute Practice, focusing on Commercial Litigation. He specialises in commercial disputes and white-collar crimes.

He regularly represents Indian and multinational clients in corporate and commercial disputes before various courts and tribunals in India. Shankh represents shareholders in disputes before the Company Law Board/National Company Law Tribunal, High Courts and the Supreme Court of India. A substantial part of his practice involves conducting institutional and ad-hoc arbitrations in disputes arising from construction contracts, hotel management and other commercial contracts in India and abroad, and he has acted for several clients on the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards from foreign courts.

He represents clients before investigative authorities such as CBI, ED and SFIO, advises conglomerates on contentious mergers, demergers and amalgamations, and has acted for commercial banks, funds, construction majors, telecom and broadcasting giants and manufacturing companies on criminal and quasi-criminal matters and in actions against the government. He has also represented defence equipment suppliers in matters involving public procurement and mismanagement of investor funds.

His representative clients include Airbus, KKR, British Gas, The National Stock Exchange, D.E. Shaw, Telenor, Thomson Reuters, International Finance Corporation, 3i Group Plc and Shangri-La Hotels.

Shankh is recognised as a ‘Leading Partner’ for White Collar Crime by Legal 500 (2024–2026) and for Dispute Resolution (Arbitration) by Legal 500 (2026), and is ranked by Chambers & Partners Asia-Pacific and Global for Dispute Resolution (2023–2026). He holds a B.A., LL.B. Hons. from National Law Institute University, Bhopal, and is admitted to the Bar Council of Delhi.
