Sandhya Iyer

Sandhya Iyer is a Senior Partner and senior member of the Corporate practice at the Mumbai office, with a primary focus on Banking and Finance Law. She has been associated with the firm since 2007 and has nearly 15 years of industry experience in the banking and finance sector.

Her practice covers banking and NBFC laws, structured finance, insolvency and bankruptcy laws, dispute resolution, information technology laws, and cybersecurity and data protection laws. She has advised clients on banking documentation, securitisation and direct assignment, external commercial borrowings, debt instruments, lending, security for obligations of non-resident entities, factoring and other financing products.

Her dispute resolution experience includes arbitration and litigation before the High Court, City Civil Court, SEBI, Securities Appellate Tribunal, Debt Recovery Tribunals, CLB, NCLT and other quasi-judicial forums. She is also a trained mediator and has experience across insolvency and bankruptcy laws, including applications under sections 7, 9, 94 and 95 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, acting as legal advisor to resolution professionals and liquidators, and advising resolution applicants on acquiring stressed companies.

She holds a B.Sc, a Master's degree in Financial Management, an LLB, a Diploma in Intellectual Property Laws and a Diploma in Cybersecurity & Data Protection Laws. She is a member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, a non-practising Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers and a Registered Patent Agent. She speaks English, Tamil, Hindi and Marathi.
