Punya Shekar

Punya Shekar is a Partner at Kochhar & Co. in the Bangalore office, specialising in Corporate Law. Her practice includes foreign investments, corporate and regulatory compliance, transactional advisory, and corporate governance, including advising on establishment of wholly owned subsidiaries, incorporation of LLPs, acquisitions, and exits from India.

Punya leads the firm's Prevention of Sexual Harassment practice at the Bangalore office, with extensive experience training employees and executives, and handling enquiries into complaints of sexual harassment. She advises blue-chip and Fortune 500 companies across diversified industry sectors on organisational structuring, due diligence, and regulatory approvals. Notable matters include assisting with a US$90 million acquisition of an Indian subsidiary and advising on a cross‑border merger transaction valued at US$130 million.

Punya holds a B.A.L., LL.B. from Bangalore University and is a member of the Bar Council of Karnataka.
